2016 Jefferson Elementary Young Writer's Contest
Do you have an idea for a book?
Your idea can be true or an outrageous lie. Biographies or autobiographies make history come alive. A collection of poems would be nice. Alphabet and counting books make learning fun.
Whatever your idea...it must be your idea...An original work...
Sharpen Your Pencils and Let the Writing Begin!
The contest is open to all Allen County students in First through Fifth grade.
Guidelines, Judging Criteria and Formatting Requirements

Each entry must be submitted in completed form (typed and illustrated) for publishing on Friday, April 3. Your classroom teacher may have deadlines that take precedent.
Submitted entries will be judged by a panel of volunteer community members. All decisions are final.
Young Author medals will be given by Author Deborah Hopkinson at Jefferson’s Young Author Presentation on Friday, April 29 at 1:30 to winning authors. Parents are encouraged to attend especially if your student is being awarded a YA medal. The YA author will sign books purchased in advance at the end of the YA presentation.
The Allen County Young Author Celebration is on the morning of Saturday, April 29 from 8:15-11:00. Because of the large number of students attending, parents are not to stay for this celebration. Books may also be purchased at the conclusion of this event.
